A hummingbird was apparently sighted today in Sabrevois, in the Haut-Richelieu region, southwest of Québec City. The observation is not confirmed, but it is plausible, given how fast they're moving north this year. The date would beat the current record by 12 days.

Hello,
My name is Carole and I live in Lachute (Basses-Laurentides region). I’d like to know if it was finally confirmed that it really was a hummingbird. I’ve had two feeders out since April 9 and I’m eagerly waiting. I check your site regularly to see whether the hummingbirds have arrived. Last year I had at least one couple and two babies but I can’t be sure whether it was the same hummingbirds who came or if others were coming too. Possibly I just thought it was always the same ones? I can’t wait ....
Congratulations on your site. It’s great.
Hello Carole,
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to validate this; the people concerned have declined to provide more information. Maybe it’ll come later.
You might be very surprised at how many hummingbirds are going through your yard. Nothing looks more like a hummingbird than another hummingbird, and they all act pretty much the same.
Last summer, we captured 241 in my yard and there were surely others coming through.
Really exciting, these tiny birds!
