For the last week, hummingbirds migrating north have been coming through my yard now and then, making very brief stops (less than 30 seconds) to "refuel". Not the right conditions for a capture.
This morning, a few stopped for a bit longer, even perching, so we decided to try some captures. This was also our chance to try controlling the cage doors with our new homebuilt remote, instead of the ropes we used to use.
Finally, our remote worked great and we captured three males, one of which had already been banded on May 14, 2007.
